Environmentally-friendly furniture: Q Collection Junior offers sustainable wood furniture, and organic baby bedding that’s both People Safe and Planet Safe

Q Collection Junior™'s goal is to be a resource and partner with you in making your home a safe and healthy environment for your children. And since we're aware that many parents often don't know where to look, or even what questions to ask, we felt it important to provide this resource for you.

Below are the areas that we think are important considerations when bringing a new furniture or bedding product into your home. We also explain specifically how our materials are different from others.

While your and your children's health is important, we are equally focused on creating products that are "Planet Safe". To that end, we use either certified wood or wood that is locally sourced from responsibly managed, sustainable forests. Our goal is to source 85% of our wood within 100 miles of our production facilities and 100% within 500 miles. Certification ensures that our wood is grown from tree farms that employ superior forestry management practices. Buying local from responsibly managed forests ensures that we are minimizing our environmental footprint.

The source of most of the wood on the market today is unknown and, unfortunately, can originate from some of the world's most threatened ecosystems such as old-growth forests in the Pacific Northwest or Amazon rain forests. The United States is by far the largest importer of virgin timber from the Amazon River region. Rest assured that no wood used in our products comes from any of these threatened ecosystems.
Concern Q Collection Junior Solution
Destructive forestry practices All our wood is FSC certified and/or locally sourced and responsibly harvested
Use of virgin material Non-solid wood is made from 100% recycled content
Transportation and production footprint our wood is all locally sourced; our organic cotton bedding is carbon neutral and all furniture is 100% hand made in the USA
Production waste Minimal or no waste from production, excess wood is used as fuel to heat facilities
Excess packaging & shipping materials We aim to use the most sustainable materials available. We have completely eliminated the use of plastics with one of our vendors.

Other examples of Q Collection Junior's commitment

  • Furniture hardware: all of our furniture door and drawer pulls are made from nuts from the Tagua tree from the rainforest in Central and South America. This "Elephant Approved" material resembles ivory, yet it comes from a tree instead of an animal. Better still, the Tagua nut is harvested like a coconut, so the tree itself is not harmed. In addition, use of these nuts creates sustainable jobs, perpetuates an artisan skill, and promotes a healthy community development.

  • Q Collection Junior is a member of 1% For The Planet. 1% of our sales are directed to environmental non-profits focused on children's environmental health issues. To learn more about the organizations we support, please visit our giving back page.

  • We are a founding member of The Sustainable Furniture Council (SFC) and have Forest Stewardship Council chain-of-custody certification.
